What is the Preterm Birth Clinic? This is a specialist clinic which monitors and treats women who might be at a higher risk of preterm (premature) birth (between 24 and 34 weeks of pregnancy) or late miscarriage (16-24 weeks). The clinic is led by a Consultant in fetal medicine.
“The risk of pre-term birth in IVF patients is due to the treatment itself,” reports ran in 2017 following a large-scale study, and is almost double the risk experienced by women who conceived without assistance.
IVF, IUI, and ovulation drugs were all associated with a higher incidence of preterm birth and low birth weight, predominantly related to multiple gestation births.
