Hi, I have just got my first IUI done, from you,(result yet to come). This my special IUI going on.Now, I would like to know the possibilities of having twins for which I am really scared?
Whenever the ovaries are stimulated to make eggs, the possibility of twins remains. If only tablets like Clomid or Clome are used, the chances are about 7-10%. However when more number of injections are used, the chances can be as high as 25%
i am planning to get an IUI done this month. i would like to know its success rate. why is a baseline scan done? please expand AFC. Regards
IUI success rates vary from 8-18% depending upon various factors. One of the important factors being the drugs used for stimulating ovaries. As a thumb rule, more the number of injections used, more is the success. Baseline Scan is done to rule out the possibility of any ovarian cysts being present. These, if present, cause a hormonal imbalance and dont allow new eggs to grow that month. Thus by doing a baseline scan we save the patient a lot of time and money by cancelling it if that cycle is destined to fail anyways. Antral follicles are follicles that are destined to become mature, egg containing follicles that cycle. Its measurement gives us an idea about the ovarian reserve of the patient. This measurment, done by TVS, on Day 2 or 3 , is known as AFC or Antral Follicle Count.
I'm 36yrs old. Had a miscarriage at 29,Ruptured Ectopic Preg at 33. Since 34yrs of age hv gone for 3 unsuccessful IUIs,1 cancelled IVF as the growth of follicles did not reach the desired size. 2nd IVF done with Low Responder Protocol produced only 1 Follicle of around 20cm but on Oocyte Retreival it was found to be of low quality, hence cancelled :(( My FSH is 10.2, AMH <0.1 as on 22 Dec 2011!! AMH suddenly decreased in 1 year drastically due to unexplained reasons ! Would you suggest Donor Egg program for me, if so how can your organisation help me as I'm an East Indian living in abroad ?
Hi, you seem to have gone through quite a lot in just 2 years. Yes its possible that on the path to decline, egg quality rapidly goes down in a short time. Looking at your history and AMH value, Oocyte donation seems to be the only option for you. At Care IVF we have a very successful Oocyte Donation Programme with more than 40% results. We can help you find a Donor to match your requirements.
Do you arrange surrogate mothers on behalf of intended parents?
Yes we can arrange surrogate mothers on behalf of intended parents but we do not have facilities to keep them with us for the duration of pregnancy.
Can you just let me know that whether the intended parents have to look for their surrogates or the clinic (care ivf) arrange for the same.
Unfortunately we do not have a surrogate house where we can keep surrogates. The choice is either to look after them yourselves or maybe admit them into a small nursing home. We could then look after the medical aspect, but not the social and logistic aspect.
